In the latest
CEIR report, year on year numbers for trade show participation, sales and attendance continue to be on the rise. If you have been hesitating to participate or attend a trade show, you can set aside your worries; there has never been a better time (not since 2007) to join the Trade Show band wagon.
“This growth is the second highest rate since the second quarter of 2007
and also marked the 20th consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth.”
All 14 sectors of business reported a year-on-year growth with the best results coming from:
- Building, Construction, Home & Repair (HM), which increased by a whopping 11.8 percent
- Industrial/Heavy Machinery and Finished Business Inputs (ID), which has jumped 10.9 percent.
How Can You Achieve Revenue Growth of 6%?
There are four areas that are measured by CEIR:
- Real Revenues
- Square Footage of Trade Show Booth space
- Number of Attendees
- Number of Exhibitors
All four areas experienced growth however the most exciting news was that the largest growth was experienced in real revenues. “The strongest metric was Real Revenues, which rose an impressive 6.1 percent.”
Ask your marketing department what other tactics they have for advertising that would gain 6% revenue growth this year? If you aren’t already investing in a trade show display, perhaps it is time to make a change.
Not only are trade shows shows bringing those business that exhibit a higher revenue, they are also being exposed to a growing number of consumers in a concentrated period of time.
3 Ways to Improve Your Trade Show Exhibit
Trade Show Booth Rentals.
You may not be aware, but the easiest way to dip your toe in the trade show booth experience is by incorporating
exhibit rentals. You can rent everything from the hanging signs, to the kiosks, to the actual
10×10 displays rentals to the furniture and flooring. In fact, you can even customize the fabric
graphics in a rental booth. So if you are just starting out or if you want to expand your existing booth design, renting is the fastest and most economical solution.
Evoke the Senses.
We normally think of
trade show graphics as being what draws attendees into our booth, but new studies have revealed that we can grab attention with more than just the visual sense.
A Harvard professor and former student launched the oPhone, and successfully sent the smell of a New York City breakfast to consumers across the Atlantic. Why not use smell and taste to drive traffic to your booth. Recently Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts drove traffic to their locations offering a free cup of coffee to celebrate National Coffee Day.
Why not incorporate a distinctive smell or taste into your trade show booth?
Low-Tech Engagement.
There is a lot of attention these days on social media, touch technology and
mobile iPad trade show apps but what about the personal approach? Even when you incorporate touch screen technology, make sure that attendees are not left to flounder on their own. Having a great sales staff that greets and invites attendees into the booth and interacts on a personal level can often be far more effective than the fanciest technology on the market.
Make sure your staff is well trained, not only on your products and services, but also on how to banter with attendees. High quality, well build
trade show displays will attract attendees to your booth but it is a smile, eye contact and handshake that help them cross the threshold and make the sales.
